Papers of father and son attorneys and politicians from Keosauqua and Bloomfield, Iowa containing correspondence, writings and news clippings. The series of 1858 correspondence between James Baird Weaver and his future wife, Clara Vinson, consists of transcripts of original letters held by family members, 16 of which are included in the collection. James Baird Weaver's Civil War correspondence consists of transcripts from the originals, two of which are housed with the collection. His political materials include correspondence, addresses, and news clippings. Material associated with James Bellamy Weaver, Jr. include writings about his father. The collection includes three scrapbooks with news clippings related to James Baird Weaver's political career (1880-1881; 1880-1912; and ca. 1930-ca. 1972).

James Baird Weaver (June 12, 1833 – February 6, 1912) was a member of the United States House of Representatives and two-time candidate for President of the United States.
